An offseason that saw the Houston Astros under an immense amount of scrutiny will likely not get any better anytime soon.  It certainly won’t get any better with the news that right-hand pitcher Francis Martes has been suspended for the entire 2020 baseball season.

Francis Martes tested positive for Baldenone, which is a banned performance enhancing drug.  Martes served an 80-game suspension in 2019 after he tested positive for clomiphene following Tommy John surgery

It’s been a disappointing career for Franics Martes thus far.  2017 has been the only season in Major League Baseball for Martes, as he finished with a 5-2 record, with a 5.80 ERA and 69 strikeouts.

The Houston Astros have been torn apart by fans and those in the media following their role in the sign stealing scandal that dominated the offseason.  Having a player test positive for PED’s, albeit one that likely wouldn’t have made much, if any, impact on the field, isn’t what the Astros needed.
