The Brooklyn Nets hiring Steve Nash is a major risk with no experience on the resume.
Surprised NBA fans got the news Wednesday that the Brooklyn Nets hired NBA hall of famer Steve Nash. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the deal is a four-year deal to become their new head coach.
The move was not expected as Steve Nash wasn't mentioned as a candidate for the Nets head coaching job. Nash had a successful career in the NBA with 18 seasons playing for the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Lakers. He made eight NBA All-Stars and won two MVP awards....
Kenny Atkinson and the Brooklyn Nets announced Saturday morning that the two parties were "mutually" parting ways.
Coming on the heels of a 19-point victory over the San Antonio Spurs, this move is something of a surprise. The Nets, who despite a below-.500 record currently hold the 7-seed, are in the middle of a playoff race. They are trying to fend off the Orlando Magic, in order to avoid a first-round matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The move was announced via a statement by Brooklyn's general manager, Sean Marks.
